The new nickel phosphorus ylide complex, [Ni(CH2PPh2CH2PPh2)2][Br]2 (1) has been prepared by the reaction of Ni(COD)2, dppm (bis(diphenylphosphino)-methane), and CH2Br2. The complex crystallizes from DMSO as 1.2DSMO: triclinic space group P1BAR, a = 9.972 (2) angstrom, b = 12.061 (2) angstrom, c = 12.675 (2) angstrom, alpha = 114.19 (1)-degrees, beta = 100.71 (1)-degrees, gamma = 91.45 (1)-degrees, V = 1357.6 angstrom 3 (Z = 1). Complex 1 can be reversibly deprotonated by 2 equiv of NaNH2 to afford Ni(CH2PPh2CHPPh2)2 (2) and reprotonated by HBr.
