A convenient method for the synthesis of a novel series of 7-trifluoromethyl-5,6-dihydrobenzo[c]acridines, in 44–82% yields, by intramolecular cyclization reactions of N-aryl-2-trifluoroacetyl-3,4-dihydronaphthylamines using poly-phosphoric acid (PPA), is described on this paper. Naphthylamine derivatives are obtained by an oxygen-nitrogen exchange reaction from 1-methoxy-2-trifluoroacetyl-3,4-dihydronaphthalene
