The thermodynamically unstable PI4+AsF6- containing the first and only example of a tetrahedral PI4+4 cation, formally a derivative of the unknown PI5, was prepared by the reaction of PI3 and I3+AsF6– at low temperatures and characterized by Ramanspectroscopy.

molecule in the X1Σ+ ground state have been observed with the Kitt Peak Fourier transform spectrometer in a F2/I2 flame. Accurate wavenumber measurements (±0.0002 cm−1) were made for the 1-0, 2-1 and 2-0 bands and molecular constants were derived.

Abstract Iodinemonofluoride A 3 Π(1) → X 1 Σ(0 + ) emission has been observed in the reaction of I 2 with F 2 at temperatures ranging from 300 to 800 K. Two previously unreported v ′ progressions are identified, and vibrational molecular constants are reported for the IF 3 Π(1) state using bandheads in progressions based on 0 ≤ v ′ ≤ 15 and 0 ≤ v ″ ≤ 5.
