  Silphos [PCl3-n(SiO2)(n)] as a heterogeneous phosphine reagent is efficiently applied for the transformation of epoxides to beta-bromoformates in the presence of bromine or N-bromosuccinimide in dimethyl forinarnide at 0 degrees C.
