1,2-Dihydroxy-tetramethyldisilane (2) has been synthesized by hydrolysis of 1,2-dichloro-tetramethyldisilane (1) and characterized by IR, NMR, MS and X-ray structure analysis. Compound 2 exists in crystal form in two different conformations forming a characteristic two-dimensional network by H-bonding.
