Novel nucleophilic addition to the NC bond of silicon isocyanates: conversion of some sterically hindered organosilicon isocyanates into aminosilanes

Treatment of the sterically hindered organosilicon isocyanates (Me3Si)3CSiMe2NCO, (PhMe2Si)3CSiMe2NCO and (Me3Si)2C(SiMePh2)(SiMe2NCO) with 2M NaOH in at room temperature gives the aminosilanes (Me3Si)3CSiMe2NH2, (PhMe2Si)3CSiMe2NH2 and (Me3Si)2C(SiMePh2) (SiMe2NH2) respectively. Treatment of (Me3Si)3CSiMe2NCO with 0.5 M NaOMe in gives the urethane (Me3Si)3CSiMe2NHCOOMe.
