6)-tri-n-butylstannylpyridines, prepared from dibromopyridines and i-PrMgCl at room temperature, undergo Negishi coupling with either alkyl or arylzinc chlorides. The new alkyl- and aryl-substituted pyridylstannanes produced are shown to be suitable for further functionalization by Stille coupling.
