农药是一类化学药剂,在农业上用于保护农作物免受病、虫、鼠害以及杂草侵害,并可调节植物生长。除农业应用外,还广泛应用于卫生防疫、林业、畜牧业和环境卫生等方面。
根据防治对象的不同,可分为杀虫剂、杀菌剂、杀螨剂、杀线虫剂、杀鼠剂、除草剂、脱叶剂及植物生长调节剂等类别。
全世界已开发的农药品种超过一千多种,其中多数为化学合成产品,也有少量来自生物源。
用于防治有害昆虫的农药称为杀虫剂。早期使用的主要是生物源杀虫剂(如除虫菊、烟碱)和无机化合物,直到20世纪40年代,滴滴涕和六六六的发现与应用促进了有机杀虫剂的发展,出现了以有机氯、有机磷及氨基甲酸酯为代表的三大类有机杀虫剂。杀虫剂不仅广泛应用于农业领域,也在家庭卫生和其他方面发挥着作用。
使用杀虫剂是防治害虫的有效方法之一,但长期使用可能导致昆虫产生抗药性,从而降低药效,需要更换不同种类的药物。
防治各类农作物病原微生物的农药称为杀菌剂,当前主要以防治真菌病害的药剂为主,而防治细菌和病毒的药剂发展相对缓慢。杀鼠剂用于毒杀鼠类,早期使用急性杀鼠剂,因对人畜有毒性而逐渐被较为安全的慢性杀鼠剂替代,后者多为抗凝血药剂。
除草剂又称除莠剂,主要用于防除农田中的杂草。
植物生长调节剂是一类具有调控植物生长发育功能的农药,其特点是用量极小却能促进或抑制植物生命过程的关键环节,从而满足人类的需求。
