    The present disclosure provides a method of preparing a compound of Formula (V) wherein n of radicals R6' to R9'are -RbOC(O)C(R13) =CH2, and further wherein R13is H or C1alkyl, n is an integer of from 1 to 3 and for each of said n radicals, Rbis independently selected from a covalent bond, C2-C12alkylene, C3-C18cycloalkylene or C6- C18arylene. In a first method step i), a disulfide compound of Formula (I) is reacted in an acidic medium having a pH of≤ 4 with a hydroxyl functional compound of Formula (II) to yield a compound of Formula (III), wherein: R2to R5are independently selected from H or C1-C6alkyl, R6to R9correspond to said substituents R6' to R9'and are independently selected from H, C1-C6alkyl, C1-C6alkoxy, C1-C12alkoxyalkyl, SR12, COOR12and N(R12)2; R10and R11are H; and, each R12is independently selected from C1-C6alkyl or C6-C18aryl, subject to the proviso that n of radicals R6to R9are Rb(OH) and for each of said n radicals, Rbis independently selected as defined above. In a second step ii) said compound of Formula (III) is reacted in an inert aprotic solvent with a (meth)acrylating agent of Formula (IV) to yield said compound of Formula (V), wherein: in Formula (IV), X is halide or -OC(O)C(R13)=CH2; and, the number of moles of (meth) acrylate groups provided by said compound of Formula (IV) is at least equimolar with the number of moles of hydroxyl groups provided by the compound of Formula (III).

    Disclosed is polymer materials essentially free of silicone capable of room-temperature thermal cure and when cured having low modulus, low out-gassing rate. The material before cure typically comprises three components: (i) a cationically curable component comprising the backbone of a hydrocarbon-based rubber material essentially free of carbon-carbon double bonds and triple bonds; (ii) a hydroxyl-containing component having at least two hydroxyl groups per molecule; (iii) an initiator component having essentially no volatility at room temperature and also yield products after polymerization that have minimal or no volatility at room temperature; (iv)an optional viscosity adjustment component either homopolymerizable or capable of copolymerizing with the photo or electron beam curable material component of (i); and (v) an optional non-alkaline inert filler. Also disclosed are process for making such cured material and devices comprising such cured polymer materials.

    Disclosed are photo or electron beam curable polymerizable compositions, and preparation thereof and devices containing such cured material. The composition contains completely or substantially completely hydrogenated hydrocarbon-based material completely free or substantially free of carbon-carbon double and triple bonds containing photo or electron beam curable terminal or pendant groups, low-outgassing photoinitiators, an optional viscosity adjustment component and an optional filler. The composition is visible light, UV or electron beam curable. It cures into a low-modulus, low outgassing polymer material. The composition can be used as an adhesive, sealant or lens potting material. It is ideal for use in lithographic tools and other optical devices involving deep or vacuum ultraviolet radiations, in particular, as lens potting materials for 248 nm, 193 nm and 157 nm lithographic tools, as well as other optical devices involving using high fluence irradiation.
