  A liquid crystalline homologous series of N-[4-(4-alkoxybenzoyloxy)benzylidene]-4-cyanoanilines was applied as a stationary liquid phase for the gas-liquid chromatographic separation of various positional isomers. It is shown that the nematic phase has higher selectivity for several positional isomers compared with the other mesomorphic phases.
