    Studies of acid-base catalysis, H/D exchange, and solvent isotope effect on the P-elimination reactions with formation of p-nitrostyrene in acetohydroxamate/acetohydroxamic acid buffers at pH 9.05, H2O, mu = 1 M KCl, 25 degrees C, from N-[2-(p-nitrophenyl)ethyl]alkylammonium ions with different leaving groups, such as N-methylpyrrolidine 1,N-ethylpyrrolidine 2,N-isopropylpyrrolidine 3, N-methylpiperidine 4,N-isopropylpiperidine 5, and N-methylazepane 6, show a change from a partially reversible E1cb mechanism with 1, 2, and 4 to an irreversible E1cb mechanism with 3, 5, and 6. The change in the rate-determining step is related to the increased steric requirement of the leaving group. A steric acceleration from the carbanion intermediate to product step is proposed.

    The present invention relates to ionic compounds containing an anion, and a cation having the following structural formula (1): R1R2R3N+-(|inker1)-O-(iinker2)-(FC) wherein: - R1 and R2 either linear or branched alkyl groups or together form a N-heterocylic ring with the nitrogen atom to which they are joined;- R3 is linear or branched alkyl group; - linker1 and linker2 are alkylene chains or polyether chains; and - the group FC is a fluorinated alkyl group, as well as an electrolyte material comprising such an ionic compound and a metal salt, and metal-air batteries using such an electrolyte material. The invention also relates to a metal-air battery containing an electrolyte material, wherein the electrolyte material comprises at least one ionic compound and a metal salt, and wherein at least one ionic compound contains an anion CnF2n+1COO- or CnF2n+1S03-, where in each case n is at least 1 and at most 10.

    A polymerizable composition for polythiourethane optical materials comprising a compound represented by the general formula (1),         M(L)n     (1) wherein, in the formula, M is Al, Fe, Cu, Zn, Zr or Bi; L is a dithiocarbamic acid group, a sulfonic acid group, a mono- or di-alkyl phosphoric acid ester group, a substituted acetylacetonato group or a halogen; and n is an integer of 1 to 5, one or two or more isocyanates selected from the group consisting of isocyanate compounds and isothiocyanate compounds, and one or two or more active hydrogen compounds each having a mercapto group. The compounds represented by the general formula (1) exhibit catalytic activity equal to or superior to that of organotin catalysts having been employed as catalysts for the production of polythiourethane optical materials from the past, and have high safety. Further, the thus obtained polythiourethane resins satisfactorily meet the property requirements for optical materials, in particular, excelling in weather resistance. Therefore, the proposed catalysts are available as novel catalysts replacing the organotin catalysts.
