Intramolecular homolytic substitution reactions at silicon by vinyl radicals are described. The reaction can be used for the formation of 5- and 6-membered cyclic alkoxysilanes bearing a vinyl silane functionality. These processes provide a new entry into highly substituted vinyl silanes. The reactions occur with moderate to excellent selectivities.

1,2,3-Triborated compounds can be prepared by simple nucleophilic borylation of 1,3-dienes, without the assistance of metal catalysts. Selectivefunctionalisation of the internal C–B bond of the 1,2,3-triborated compounds, through cross-coupling with aryl iodides, highlights the powerful methodology toward polyfunctionalisation.
