  Homologs from a series of 4-(omega-hydroxyalkoxy)-4'-formylbenzenes (C-2,C-3,C-4,C-6,C-8) were synthesized. All compounds obtained show properties of thermotropic nematic liquid crystals. The effect of the terminal hydroxy group of the end substituent on the mesomorphous properties of the compounds was analyzed.
