  1.3-Disubstituted tetrakis(fluoroalkyl)distannoxanes (XRf(2)SnOSnRf(2)Y)(2) (Rf = C6F13C2H4, C4F9C2H4; X, Y = Cl, Br, NCS) were synthesized from readily available dibenzyltin dibromide. The dimeric formulation of these compounds that was confirmed by Sn-119-NMR spectra gave rise to a structure in which the metalloxane core is covered by the surface fluorophilic alkyl groups. Thus. these compounds exhibited high solubility in fluorocarbon solvents and large partition coefficients for FC-72 against common organic solvent. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V.
