    Synthesis of Functionalized Pyrazoles via Vanadium-Catalyzed C–N Dehydrogenative Cross-Coupling and Fluorescence Switch-On Sensing of BSA Protein
    摘要:
    Vanadium-catalyzed C-N dehydrogenative cross-coupling of alkenyl hydrazones leading to functionalized pyrazoles is described in a 1:1 mixture of toluene/H2O using air as the terminal oxidant. Significant practical features include use of the commercial nontoxic VOSO4 as a recyclable catalyst, mild reaction conditions, scalability, and the broad substrate scope. Some of the product pyrazoles exhibit interesting photophysical properties. Fluorescence light-up sensing of BSA protein by one of the pyrazoles is also highlighted.

    complex formation with cyano ligands is attributed to the promotion of water molecules to the cyano group. The intensity and position of the VO band in the IR spectra reflect not only the nature of the ligand but also the geometry of the complex formed. Some complexes were isolated as binuclear and confirmed by ESR spectra. The end product on thermal degradation of most complexes was VO(2).

  • Synthesis, Characterization and Biological Studies of Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II) and VO(IV) Complexes of Tridentate ONO Donor with N'-[(E)-3-Bromo-5-chloro-2-hydroxybenzylidene]nicotinohydrazide

    New Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II) and VO(IV) complexes of the Schiff base, N’-[(E)-3-bromo-5-chloro-2-hydroxybenzylidene]nicotinohydrazide have been synthesized and characterized by NMR, MS, IR, electronic, magnetic measurements, EPR, redox properties and XRD. The ligand coordinates through one of the phenolic–O, azomethine–N and amide–O atoms to metal ions as shown by IR measurements. Electronic and magnetic measurements have been corroborative of a square-planar geometry for Cu(II) complex, octahedral geometry for Ni(II), Co(II) complexes and square pyramidal geometry for vanadium complex. The observed anisotropic ‘g’ values also confirm the presence of Cu(II) in a square planar environment and VO(IV) complex in a square pyramidal coordination geometry around the metal centre. The redox properties of the metal complexes have been investigated by cyclic voltammetry. Preliminary antibacterial screening shows the promising results against bacterial strains. The compounds have shown promising cytotoxic activity when screened using the in vitro method on human breast adenocarcinoma (MCF-7) cells.
