omega-hydroxyalkyl selenides were synthesized in good yields under phase-transfer conditions which involved hadrazine reduction on selenium powder and then alkylation with omega-haloalkyl alcohols in the presence of TBAB, reduction the resulting diselenides with KBH4 followed by treatment with alkyl halides.
