New organometallic aryldiisocyanide polymers of the group 6 transition metals have been synthesized and characterized. The aryldiisocyanide chromium(0), molybdenum(0) and tungsten(0) polymers were found to be extremely sensitive towards air oxidation. Oxidized 4,4′-diisocyanobiphenyl-tungsten(II) and -molybdenum(II) polymers were prepared by the addition of iodine to the solid state zerovalent matrices
