  By the reaction of diacetyl with cyanohydrines derived from ketones 2,2-di-hydroxyacyl-amino-3-keto-n-butanes (3–6) and 2-methyl-2-acetyl-oxazolidones-(4) (3a–6a) were obtained. The structure of these compounds were confirmed by further chemical transformation and by comparison of infrared spectra with 2,2,5,5-tetra-alkyl-4-oxazolidones prepared by an independent route.
