  (EN) A class of chemical compounds comprising a 2(1H)-quinolone moiety and a substituted heterocyclic moiety, linked via the 3-position of the 2(1H)-quinolone moiety by a methylene group, are antagonists of dopamine receptor subtypes within the brain, having a selective affinity for the dopamine D4 receptor subtype over other dopamine receptor subtypes, and are accordingly of benefit in the treatment and/or prevention of psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia whilst manifesting fewer side-effects than those associated with classical neuroleptic drugs.(FR) Une classe de composés chimiques renfermant un groupe 2(1H)-quinolone et un groupe hétérocyclique substitué, liés en position 3 du groupe 2(1H)-quinolone par un groupe méthylène, constituent des antagonistes de sous-types de récepteurs de dopamine dans le cerveau et ils ont une affinité sélective pour le sous-type de récepteur D4 de la dopamine, par comparaison avec celle pour d'autres sous-types de récepteurs de la dopamine. Ces composés sont donc utiles pour le traitement et/ou la prévention de désordres du psychisme tels que la schizophrénie, tout en présentant moins d'effets secondaires que ceux associés avec les médicaments neuroleptiques classiques.
