Oxidative cleavage of anispinacolone (An3C·CO·An, An=p-methoxyphenyl) with diaroyl peroxides proceeds by electron-transfer mechanism, which starts with rate-determining decomposition of the peroxide, unimolecular for dibenzoyl and bimolecular for bis(3,5-dinitrobenzoyl) peroxide.
