2-Methyl-2-silapropene adds rapidly to hydrogen chloride and to hydrogenbromide in the gasphase to form the corresponding trimethylsilyl halide, and to molecular oxygen to form dimethylsilanone; Arrhenius parameters for these reactions have been measured.
