Aminochlorodisilanes: Precursors to multifunctionalized disilane derivatives

Multifunctionalized disilane derivatives containing silicon bonded to such elements as carbon, chlorine, hydrogen, nitrogen and iron were synthesized from bis(trimethylsilyl)aminopentachlorodisilane (1), 1,2-bis[bis(trimethylsilyl)amino]tetrachlorodisilane (2) or bis(phenyldimethylsilyl)aminopentachlorodisilane (3). 1, 2 and 3 were easily prepared from the reaction of Si2Cl6 with one or two equivalents of LiN(SiMe3)(2) or LiN(SiMe2Ph)(2), respectively. Partially hydrogenated chlorodisilanes were obtained from the corresponding aminodisilanes and dry HCl. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
