A simple way for the preparation of undecamethylcyclohexasilanylalkalimetal compounds is described by the reaction of dodecamethylcyclohexasilane with alkalimetal alcoholats in glyme solvents. Reactions of other cyclosilanes are also discussed. Some reactions of undecamethylcyclohexasilanylpotassium with element-halogen derivates and inorganic acids are described.

Co-condensation of five equivalents Me2SiCl2 and one equivalent RR′SiCl2 with lithium provides the five- and six-membered rings RR′Si(Me2Si)4 and RR′Si(Me2Si)5. This method provides a direct route to the phenyl substitued methylcyclopolysilanes (R,R′ Me, Ph) which can be used for further functionalization of the silicon rings. It also provides several news sterically hindered methylcyclopolysilanes
Mono- and dibromomethylcyclohexasilanes react with NaFe(CO)2cp and Na[Mo(CO)3cp] to give the corresponding cyclosilanyl transition metal compounds Si6Me11[Fe(CO)2cp] (I), (Si6Me10[Fe(CO)2cp]2 (II) and Si6Me11[Mo(CO)3cp] (III). I was characterized fully by NMR spectroscopy and the FeSi coupling constant has been determined for the first time.
