LiAlH4 reduction of 2-(isopropylsulfonyl)-bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-ene-2-carbonitrile 1 gave the reduced product 2 resulting from the first reported LiAlH4 induced α-sulfonitrile decyanation.
