    An improved fluid printing ink composition suitable for use in laminating inks is provided which comprises a resin, alcohol solvent, and a pigment. In accordance with the present invention the improvement is provided wherein the resin comprises an alcohol soluble polyamide resin having recurring units of the formula: wherein R₁ is either hydrogen or methyl, R₂ is either a carbocyclic, aralkyl or linear or branched aliphatic group, X is an alkylene group, and Z and Z′ each represent an alkyl group which may be the same or different or taken together to represent an alkylene group. The fluid ink compositions of the invention have superior qualities when used as laminating inks, are less expensive than previous laminating inks, and can be used successfully on a wide variety of packaging films.

    A thermoplastic coating and binding agent containing a non-homogeneous mixture of, based on the total weight of A and B: A) 5-95 wt % of a thermoplastic acrylic plastic with a melting temperature above room temperature, but below 200° C., a glass transition temperature below 120° C., and a melt viscosity of 1,000 to 1,000,000 Pa·sec at the melting temperature; and B) 95-5 wt. % of a flow improver, which, at room temperature, is not compatible with the thermoplastic acrylic plastic, has a melting temperature above room temperature but below 200° C., a molecular weight under 20,000 d, and a melt viscosity below 100 Pa·sec at the melting temperature of the acrylic plastic.

    The present invention is drawn to a method of preparing anti-oxidant-modified latex particulates, ink-jet inks, and coating compositions. The present invention is also drawn to related latexes and ink-jet inks. The method can include steps of generating an emulsion with a hydrophilic continuous phase and a hydrophobic discontinuous phase, wherein the hydrophobic discontinuous phase includes monomers for polymerization, at least one monomer being modified by an anti-oxidant moiety; and polymerizing the monomers in the hydrophobic discontinuous phase using a biocatalytic polymerization process.
