    An object of the present invention is to provide a deep-ultraviolet-transmitting epoxy resin cured product having high heat resistance and high resistance to deep-ultraviolet light, and to provide a curing accelerator and an epoxy resin composition which are used for producing the epoxy resin cured product. The curing accelerator for deep-ultraviolet-transmitting epoxy resins comprises a tetraalkylphosphonium dialkyl phosphate represented by the following general formula (1): wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , and R 6 each represent an alkyl group or an alkyl group having a hydroxyl group, which has 1 to 8 carbon atoms and is linear, branched, or alicyclic; and R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , and R 6 may be the same or different. Also disclosed are an epoxy resin composition comprising the curing accelerator and an epoxy resin cured product obtained by curing the resin composition.

    The present invention discloses a monoepoxy compound represented by the following Formula (1), a curable composition containing the same, a cured product therefrom, a method of producing the monoepoxy compound, and a reactive diluent containing the monoepoxy compound. The monoepoxy compound represented by the Formula (1) is useful in that it is capable of reducing the viscosity of a curable composition containing the monoepoxy compound, while preventing a reduction in the heat resistance of the curable composition as well as a reduction in the weight of the curable composition upon curing.     The present invention discloses a composition comprising at least one or more stereoisomers of a compound represented by the following Formula (1), wherein, in a gas chromatogram obtained by analyzing the composition by gas chromatography, the ratio of the area of the maximum peak with respect to the total area of peaks derived from the stereoisomers is 60% or more; and wherein the maximum peak is present within the range of retention time of from 27.6 to 28.0 minutes. The present invention also discloses: a curable composition comprising the above described composition, and one selected from the group consisting of a thermal cationic polymerization initiator, an acid anhydride-based curing agent and a curing accelerator, and a photo-cationic polymerization initiator; as well as a cured product therefrom. The above described curable composition is useful in that it allows for the production of a cured product having a high heat resistance. (In the Formula (1), R 1 to R 18 are each independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group and an alkoxy group.)

    The present invention is a process for preparing an epoxy resin which comprises reacting (A) a material having an average of more than one aliphatic hydroxyl group per molecule with (B) an epoxy alkyl halide in the presence of (C) an alkali metal hydroxide and (D) at least one phase transfer catalyst, removing the salt formed, allowing the reaction to separate into an aqueous phase and an organic phase, removing the aqueous phase, and recovering the epoxy resin from the organic phase. The invention is characterized by repeating at least once the steps in which the organic phase is reacted with a quantity of component (C) sufficient to cause a separation of the reaction mixture into an aqueous phase and an organic phase and which is at least stoichiometric with the amount of unreacted component (A), removing the saltformed, allowing the reaction mixture to separate into an aqueous phase and an organic phase, and removing the aqueous phase. This process provides for a high level of conversion of the aliphatic hydroxyl-containing material to the corresponding glycidyl ethers.
