  The diastereoselective synthesis of phosphite triesters and their corresponding thiophosphate triesters is described. The new bicyclic imidazo-oxazaphosphorine, synthesized as a single diastereomer, is used as an intermediate that undergoes a diastereoselective displacement when reacted with an alcohol.
