  (EN) The invention concerns a red powder composition that is a substitute for conventional black powder. It can be in loose or consolidated forms. In a four grain combination, the red powder can be used as the propelling charge in handheld rocket signals or flares. There are new methods for preparing the powder and new methods for fabricating articles. The chemical composition of red powder is a dispersion of phenolphthalein, alkali metal nitrate and sulfur in a binder of phenolphthalein salt.(FR) L'invention se rapporte à une composition de poudre rouge, qui est un substitut de la poudre noire courante. Elle peut prendre une forme désagrégée ou agglomérée.
