The titled ironcomplexes derived from 3-iodo-1-trimethylsiloxypropenes and [Bu4N][Fe(CO)3NO] reacted with carbon nucleophiles such as NaCH(CO2Et)2 to give the corresponding nucleophileaddition products in high yields. The practical and versatile syntheses of angular hydroxymethylated decalones as potential syntheticintermediates for terpenoids are described. Particularly angular hydroxymethylated bicyclodecanedione 1 has been synthesized in 45 % overall yield from methyl 2,6-dimethoxy-1,4-dihydrobenzoate via six step sequence.
