Mono-organotin(IV) complexes with 2-acetylpyridine 3-hexamethyleneiminylthiosemicarbazone (HAchexim). The crystallographic structures of [SnX(Ahexim)Cl2] (X=Me, Ph)

The reaction of HAchexim with SnMeCl3 and SnPhCl3 yielded [SnMe(AchexiM)Cl-2] (1) and [SnPh(AchexiM)Cl-2] (2), respectively. The complexes were characterized by IR, NMR (H-1, C-13) spectroscopic methods, elemental analysis and X-ray crystal structure determination. The X-ray studies revealed that both complexes possess a distorted octahedral geometry with the organic group (Me and Ph) and the tridentate ligand (Achexim(-)) at the same plane while the Cl atoms are trans spanned. The complexes I and 2 crystallize in the monoclinic (P2(1)/n) and orthorhombic (Pbca) crystal system, respectively. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
