    [99mTc]oxotechnetium(V) complexes of amine-amide-dithiol (AADT) chelates containing tertiary amine substituents were synthesized and shown to have affinity for melanoma. For complexation the AADT-CH2[CH2]nNR2 (n = 1, 2; R = Et, n-Bu) ligand was mixed with a [99mTc]oxotechnetium(V)-glucoheptonate precursor to make the AADT-[99mTc]oxotechnetium(V) complexes in nearly quantitative yield.     The present invention relates to compounds and related technetium and rhenium complexes thereof which are suitable for imaging or therapeutic treatment of tumors, e.g., carcinomas, melanomas and other tumors. In another embodiment, the invention relates to methods of imaging tumors using radiolabeled metal complexes. Preferred radiolabeled complexes for imaging tumors include technetium and rhenium complexes. The high tumor uptake and significant tumor/nontumor ratios of the technetium complexes of the invention indicate that such small technetium-99m-based molecular probes can be developed as in-vivo diagnostic agents for melanoma and its metastases. In yet another embodiment, the invention relates to methods of treatment of tumors using a radiolabeled metal complex as a radiopharmaceutical agent to treat the tumor.

New arylpiperazine derivatives according to the present invention have no problem of amide hydrolysis in metabolism and have a high affinity for serotonin receptors, and can be labeled with an optimum radionuclide of technetium, thereby being usefully applied for monitoring neurodegenerative diseases or neurological diseases of a mammal.

    The compounds of the present invention comprise a tropane compound or ligand that selectively binds to tropane recognition sites, e.g., neuron transporters such as the DAT. The tropane ligand is radiolabeled with a radioactive technetium or rhenium by a chelating ligand which is attached to the tropane ligand by a linker.Tropane compounds or ligands useful in the pratice of the present invention can generally be represented by formula II where R1 and R2 are defined as above and where R1 can also be substituted at the C4 position of the tropane ring:Any tropane compound of the general formula II is useful in the present invention so long as it binds to DAT.Useful tropane analogs have a 3α-group, i.e., are of the boat configuration.Intermediates for the synthesis of the radiolabeled tropanes are claimed.
