    Self-Assembly of Trisiloxane-Tailed Sugar Surfactant in Aqueous Solution
    摘要:
    A lactobionamide-based trisiloxane surfactant (Si3N2-LA) was prepared via a two-step method. Structure characterization of Si3N2-LA was performed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and proton nuclear magnetic resonance (H-1 NMR). Surface activity and aggregation behavior in aqueous solution of Si3N2-LA were investigated by surface tension measurements, dynamic light scattering (DLS) and negative-stained transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results show that the surfactants can self-assemble into spherical vesicles with diameters in the range from 50 to 150nm due to the introduction of trisiloxane tail.

    Three amphiphilic trisiloxane room-temperature ionic liquids, [(Si(3)N(2)-AC(2), Si(3)N(2)-PC(2), Si(3)N(2)BC(2))], were designed and synthesized. Their surface activity and aggregation behavior in aqueous solution were systematically investigated through measurements of surface tension, conductivity, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Surface activity measurements indicate that the trisiloxane ionic liquids can significantly reduce the surface tension of water, as shown by the gamma(cac) values of about 20 mN/m. Aggregation behavior studies reveal that the aggregates formed in Si(3)N(2)-AC(2) and Si(3)N(2)-PC(2) solutions are observed to be small spherical aggregates, while those formed in Si(3)N(2)-BC(2) solutions are found to be large necklace-like aggregates.
