The doubly lithiated silanes 8b and 13b were cyclized by several dihalides XCl2 affording the [4.1.1]propellanes 9a-g and, respectively, the [3.1.1]propellanes 14a-d. On irradiation of the titanacyclc 9f, “titanocene” was eliminated forming the [3.1.1]propellane 11. Silane 15a was brominated in pyridine to give the dibromide 15b, which served as starting material for the synthesis of propellanes 14e
