Using flow-pyrolysis techniques together with microwave and other spectroscopic detection methods it has proven possible to produce and study new substituted analogues of phosphaethyne. HCP. The intial work on CH3CP, FCP and CF3CP as well as HCP itself has now been extended to the production and study of NC-CP, HCC-CP, CH2CHCP and PhCP.
