  The present invention relates to novel 2-heteroaryl substituted benzothiophene and benzofuran derivatives, precursors thereof, and therapeutic uses of such compounds, having the structural formula (Ia) below: and to their pharmaceutically acceptable salt, compositions and methods of use.
