Reactions of phosphine‐derived carbenes with 9‐borabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane (9‐BBN) result in ring‐expansionreactions to generate novel intramolecular frustrated Lewis pairs (FLPs). These FLPs effect the catalytic reduction of CO2 in the presence of boranes to give BOB and methoxy‐borate species.

It has been experimentally proven that the reaction of 1- or 1,2-disubstitutedimidazoles with diorganylphosphorus(III) halides proceeds via initial formation of N-phosporylated imidazolium salts. Treatment of these salts with strong bases results in phosphorylation of the parent imidazoles at the 2- or 5-positions, correspondingly.
