  The reaction of phenyl(dibromochloromethyl)mercury and phenyl(tribromomethyl)mercury with organosilicon and organogermanium hydrides gave bromochloromethyl- and dibromomethyl-substituted derivatives of silicon and germanium via dihalocarbene insertion into the SiH and GeH bonds. The reduction of these products with tri-n-butyltin hydride at room temperature gave the respective monohalomethyl compounds

  苯基（二溴氯甲基）汞和苯基（三溴甲基）汞与有机硅和有机锗氢化物的反应通过二卤卡宾插入到SiH和GeH键中，生成溴氯甲基和二溴甲基取代的硅和锗衍生物。在室温下用氢化三正丁基锡将这些产物还原得到相应的单卤代甲基化合物，将溴氯甲基衍生物还原为氯甲基化合物，将二溴甲基衍生物还原为溴甲基化合物。在硅和锗的单卤代甲基衍生物的新合成的两个步骤中均获得了优异的产率。
