  The compound (eta(2)-C5Me5)BeAs(t-Bu)(2) (1) was prepared by the reaction of (eta(2)-C5Me5)BeCl with LiAs(t-Bu)(2) in diethyl ether at 0 degrees C. The structure of 1 has been determined by X-ray crystallography and is the first structurally characterized diorganoarsenide derivative of beryllium. It is monomeric in the solid state with the As-t-Bu-2 ligand acting as a one electron donor. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
