Carboxylation of lithium trialkylalkynylborate can take place under favourable conditions. Protonation of the reaction product yields (Z)-α,β-unsaturated acid.

Trialkylalkynylborates react readily with some dihalogenomethanes undergoing two alkyl migrations to give, after hydrolysis, good yields of terminal olefins.

The reaction of allylcarbonate with lithiumtrialkylalkynylborates catalysed by Pd(PPh3)4, affords 1,4-alkadienes in good yields and high stereoselectivity.
