The cationic [2-(2'-hydroxyphenyl)-2-oxazolinato(-2)]oxorhenium(v) complex promotes oxidative dehydrogenation of organosilanes with water and alcohols in a catalytic manner to give excellent yields of silanols and silyl ethers, respectively.
