Preparation of Branched Oligogermynes and Their Micropatterning by Ultraviolet Irradiation

Branced oligogermynes were prepared both by Wurtz coupling reactions of alkyl- and phenyl-trichlorogermanes with sodium metal and by the reaction of alkyltrichlorogermanes using of samarium(II) diiodide. Upon ultraviolet irradiation of oligo(phenylgermyne) in air, the germanium–germanium bond in an oligo(phenylgermyne) film changed into a digermoxane chain.
