Abstract A.C. proton conductivity measurements on poorly crystalline, electrically insulating hydrous oxides of Sb, Th, In, Cr, Al and Ga show a very wide range of values from 6 × 10 −8 ohm −1 cm −1 for A l (OH) 3 ·H 2 O to 7.5 × 10 −3 ohm −1 cm −1 for Sb 2 O 5 ·5.4H 2 O at 293K.
