(DMAP)-promoted amidation in aqueous acetonitrile (15 min, ambient temperature) to form N-TMPP-Ac derivatives of peptides. These peptide derivatives are readily amenable to analysis by fast atom bombardment (FAB) and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry.
