Here, we report that various monodispersed metal nanoparticles (Ag, Pt, Co, Cu, Ni, Pd, and Au) efficiently activated molecular oxygen under mild conditions, illustrated by the aerobic oxidation of anilines to form either symmetric or asymmetric aromatic azo compounds.
