본 발명은 로듐 (rhodium) 촉매를 이용한 시놀리논 (cinnolin-3(2H)-one) 유도체의 신규한 제조방법에 관한 것으로서, 보다 구체적으로는 로듐 촉매 하에서 아조벤젠 (azobenzene) 유도체와 5-다이아조-2,2-다이메틸-1,3-다이옥세인-4,6-다이온(5-Diazo-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione)간 반응을 통하여 생성되는 시놀리논 유도체의 제조방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 제조방법은 생물학적으로 중요한 화합물인 아조벤젠 (azobenzene)의 비활성 C-H 결합을 활성화시켜 기존의 전통적인 방법에 비하여 더욱 간단하고 효율적으로 다양한 치환기를 가지는 시놀리논 유도체를 합성할 수 있다.
