  Homologs of a series 4-[4-(omega-hydroxyalkoxy)phenyl]diazenylcinnamic acids (C-2, C-6, C-8, C-9, C-10) and their two 4-cyanophenyl esters (C-2, C-6) were synthesized. The substances obtained possess properties of thermotropic nematic liquid crystals. The effect of the terminal hydroxy group of the terminal substituent on their mesomorphous properties was analyzed.
