    An internal release agent includes at least one phosphodiester represented by the following general formula (1). In the formula, R1 and R2 independently represent a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, which is optionally substituted with at least one hydroxyl group, and R3 represents an alkylene group having 2 to 4 carbon atoms. A plurality of R3's may be the same as or different from each other. M represents a hydrogen atom, an ammonium ion, an alkali metal ion, or a monovalent/divalent alkali earth metal ion, and n is an integer of 1 to 60.

    A cured matter obtained by polymerizing and curing a polymerizable composition comprising a compound having at least one episulfide in a molecule is reduced in an odor by adding a perfume to the polymerizable composition comprising the compound having at least one episulfide in a molecule. A cloudiness of the lens is removed by raising a purity of sulfur to 98% or more. A reduction in a chlorine content of the sulfur compound described above to 0.1% by weight or less elevates an oxidation resistance and a light fastness of the high refractive index optical material and improves a color tone thereof. An optical product having a high refractive index and a high-degree transparency is provided by subjecting the composition in advance to deaerating treatment at 0 to 100° C. for one minute to 24 hours under a reduced pressure of 0.001 to 50 torr.

    The episulfide compound of the present invention has, in one molecule, one or more epithio structures represented by the following Formula 1: 1 wherein R 1 is C 1 -C 10 hydrocarbylene group; R 2 , R 3 and R 4 are each independently C 1 -C 10 hydrocarbyl group or hydrogen; Y is S, O, Se or Te; n is an integer of from 0 to 5; and m is 0 or 1, and further characterized by having a nitrogen content of 5000 ppm or less. The optical material produced by curing the episulfide compound by polymerization has a high refractive index and a large Abbe's number with little coloring and haze. The optical material is useful, particularly, as spectacle plastic lenses.

    Disclosed is a polymerizable composition comprising Component (a): a polythiocarbonate polythiol, Component (b): an episulfide compound, and optionally Component (c): an organic compound having a functional group that is reactive to the episulfide compound. The polymerizable composition can be cured to provide a polythioether having excellent optical properties (a high refractive index and a high Abbe's number) as well as excellent mechanical properties (a high bending distortion and a high glass transition temperature) and thus exhibiting excellent properties as an optical material.

    Aqueous compositions containing polymeric fat acid polyamide resins are disclosed and their use in coatings and adhesives. The polyamide resins are dis­persed or dissolved in aqueous solutions containing alkylaminoalalkanolamines, such as N,N-dimethyl or diethyl ethanolamine in an amount sufficient to form a salt with the acid group of the polyamide resin. The thermoplastic, hot melt, polymeric fat acid polyamides are useful as adhesives in a process of bonding substrates wherein the aqueous solution of the polyamide is applied on a wet film to at least one of the substrates to be bonded, removing the water, heating the polyamide above its melting point and cooling the polyamide after contact of the substrate to be bonded.
