The title compound, [Fe-2{Sn(C9H15Si)(2)}(2)], is a new ferrocenophane containing two (Me2SiCH2)(2)SnMe2 bridges. The molecule lies about an inversion center. The intramolecular Si ... Si distances are 7.827(2) and 8.403 (2) Angstrom, and the Sn ... Sn intramolecular separation is 9.102(1) Angstrom.
The synthesis is reported of the crownethersubstituted tin-containing ferrocenophanes fc(SiMe2CH2)2Sn(X)CH2CH(CH2OC2H4OCH2)2 (1, X = Ph; 2, X = I; 3, X = Cl; 4, X = F) and of the ditopiccomplex 3·LiCl.
