  通过非麻醉的8-脱氧衍生物的区域选择性氯磺化反应进行3-环丙基甲基-，3-环丁基甲基-和3-甲基-8-苯甲酰硫基-2,6-甲氧基-3-苯并恶唑啉的合成（1j-1）。 （1a-c），然后还原和苯甲酰化。还通过相同方法获得了3-苯甲酰基硫吗啡喃（2h-j）。发现具有小环取代基（1k，1l，2i，2j）的化合物是弱的，但纯的μ-和δ-阿片样物质拮抗剂。1k的止痛活性几乎与喷他佐辛相同。
