Comproportionation of SbCp3 with SbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) in stoichiometric amount yields Cp2SbX and CpSbX2. TlCp does not react with SbX3 in 1/1 or 2/1 ratios. Of the Group 14 organometallic cyclopentadienyls Me3M-σ-C5H5 (M = Si, Ge, Sn, Pb), only Me3SiCp reacts with SbBr3 to give Cp2SbBr and CpSbBr2. The 1H and 13C NMR data and mass spectra for selected compounds are reported.
